Friday, October 3 Friday's workshop will take place at Wallenberg Hall. See parking info.

8:30 - 9:00 am Continental Breakfast & Informal Meeting Time

9:00 - 9:15 am What Is a Deep Dive?
Explain goals of the Deep Dive; Rules of Brainstorming.

9:15 - 9:30 am Deep Dive Agenda & Milestones
Brief
description of tasks and milestones for morning and afternoon. What are follow up deliverables?

9:30 - 10:00 am Ice Breaker Exercise
Participants pair off. Each pair spends five minutes getting to know each other. Each member introduces the other member of the pair to the group as a whole.

10:00 - 12:00 pm Group Exercise: Develop a SENS Development Roadmap
The goal of this exercise is for the group to jointly develop a matrix of key variables that might provide the foundation for a five-year development roadmap whose goal is to clarify the "Making SENS" vision.

12:00 - 1:00pm Working Lunch
The group can continue working on fleshing out the matrix during lunch if necessary. Box lunches will be provided.

1:00 - 4:00 pm Break-out Groups: Future Scenario Development
After lunch, the group will divide into three working groups of roughly equal number of participants. Each group will be responsible for developing a reasonably detailed TARGET scenario—a user-centered vision of what new learning experiences would be enabled if, five years from now, a Science Education Network of Sensors actually existed. One possibility is for the scenarios to be driven by the curriculum. Each group would develop a scenario (a kind of day-in-the-life storyboard, with participants, activities, sketches) showing how SENS would work in Mathematics and in science domains ranging from middle school General Science to Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Environmental Science/Geoscience respectively.

4:00 - 5:00 pm Presentation of Future Scenarios
Each team presents its scenario and gets feedback from the group as a whole.

5:00 - 5:30 pm Conclusions & Identification of Next Steps
